Multiple bodies ensure rigorous oversight of all research at VMRF(DU)

Research Advisory Board

Mandate:
The Research Advisory Board is responsible for formulating the overall Research Policies and guidelines for the university from time to time, suggest the research areas to concentrate and guide the R&D activities in Health Sciences, Technology including interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary Research areas in the ambit institutes of VMRF(DU). The RAB shall ensure that the institutional Research Committees are effectively working and promoting Academic, Industrial, multidisciplinary Research in their institute through URC. The committee shall meet preferably at least once in three months or as and when required. The RAB may invite the HOI’s and Faculty of VMRF(DU), Industry Experts & Subject matter Experts as invitees whenever required. The term of RAB is Three years from the date of constitution. Honorarium, TA/DA and accommodation will be provided as per University norms for other than VMRF(DU) members. 50% quorum is required to conduct the meeting.

University Research Committee

Mandate:
The University Research Committee (URC) is responsible for implementing the overall Research Policy and guidelines of the university, guide the research in the areas as suggested by Research Advisory Board and guide the R&D activities in University including interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary Research areas in the ambit institutes of VMRF(DU). The URC shall review the progress of Research in Various institutions of VMRF (DU). The URC shall recommend the Seed Money Projects for the approval of VC. The URC shall ensure that the institutional Research Committees work and promote Academic, Industrial, and Multidisciplinary Research in their institutes. The URC shall encourage to do external research Projects. The URC shall ensure that the research centres established in various institutes of VMRF are being used effectively. The committee shall meet preferably at least once in three months or as and when required. The minutes of the meeting shall be marked to VC, Pro VC & Registrar for information. The term of URC is Three years from the date of constitution.

Intellectual Property Rights Management Committee

Mandate:
The committee will implement the IPR policy approved by BOM of VMRF(DU). The committee will suggest facilitation of patents filing by faculty & students. The committee will suggest the changes in the IPR Policy whenever required. The committee will review the progress of monetization, productization, and technology transfer of patents granted. It will decide the revenue-sharing formula for IPRs like patents, copyrights, etc., between faculty and the university. It will protect IP rights of VMRF(DU). It will resolve any conflicts arising out of IPRs within the university or from outside the university. The Committee shall meet at least once in three months or as frequently as required. The term of this committee is two years from the date of issue.

In case any violations are found by the committee or brought to its notice, it will inquire and suggest suitable action against the concerned faculty/students to the Vice Chancellor for perusal. The tenure of the committee is three years.

Publications Oversight Committee

Mandate:
To ensure that a sufficient number of quality indexed scientific publications are published by the faculty members in every calendar year as per statutory requirements. To ensure ethical practices are followed by the faculty while publishing journal publications. To make available plagiarism measurement tools to all faculty of VMRF (DU). To make recommendations to procure new plagiarism tools whenever necessary. To maintain VMRF (DU)’s Researgence portal and recommend its renewal whenever required. To resolve any conflict of interest in publications reported by the faculty of VMRF (DU). To create awareness periodically among faculty about the publication guidelines, correct affiliation requirements, cloned journals, and the list of journals removed from indexing by Scopus, Web of Science, UGC CARE, etc. The term of the committee is two years.

Terms of Reference:
This Committee will be for 3 years; however, the members can be replaced/substituted as and when necessary. The committee will advise thrust areas of Research and Innovation and how the research output can be improved at VMRF, Pondicherry Campus. The committee will meet quarterly or at least 3 times in a year physically or in hybrid mode, preferably at Chennai office of the VMRF. The Members will be paid TA/DA and sitting fee as per the University rules.
